“Giulio Natta” Award

Prof. Felice Cornacchia

The outstanding professional creativity of Engineer Felice Cornacchia may be summarized as it follows:
1) the generation of the basic idea and the development of the body work structures for the front traction vehicles with cross engine and in line gearshift, a new concept where the Fiat group has been the leading pioneer in the world.
For such an important innovation Eng. Cornacchia and the Fiat group have been awarded with the Safety Engineering Excellence
Award of the US Transportation Ministry.
2) the introduction and the development of the virtual simulation approach in the automotive field, a real revolution in that area where Eng. Cornacchia in the 70s ... continua >>

“Nicolò Copernico” for Biomedical Sciences

Dott.ssa Chiara Orlandi

Dr. Chiara Orlandi is the winner of the fifth Edition of the Copernico Award 2007 for the biomedical studies. The project proposed by Dr. Chiara Orlandi has the aims to identify the intracellular mechanisms able to inhibit the multiplication of the HTLV-1, a human retrovirus. This retrovirus is associated with the onset of lymphomas and leukemias in human. The experimental approach appears innovative because proposes, by using recent scientific discoveries in the field, to inhibit the multiplication of the human retrovirus HTLV-1, and consequently to block the onset of specific human tumors. The objectives of the scientific research, which are very focused, appear fe ... continua >>
